Our Goal: 20+ new volunteers

Our volunteers are people without an intellectual/developmental disability who choose to spend time with SBS. They’re central to who we are, because they build wonderful friendships with participants and make our programs better.

Get a feel for it. Join us as a visitor for an upcoming Gathering.

Every Tuesday in January from 6:00-7:30pm

Not free at that time? We’d be delighted to set something else up.

What’s great about volunteering with SBS?

  1. It’s easy: no special skills or background required - just the willingness to be with different and amazing people.

  2. It’s fun! SBS gatherings bring joy and life to the people who come.

  3. It’s nourishing. Literally. We love to eat together, and most of our gatherings include some sort of shared food.

  4. It’s manageable: we know you’re busy, so we have different programs that can fit into your family/work/school schedules.

  5. It’s transformative: both for our participants and other volunteers, who will love being around you, and for you.

  6. It’s empowering: we love seeing our participants thrive, and we love to see you thrive. With the different kinds of groups we have, there’s likely a way for you to share a passion with this community - music, exercise, games, food…
